Is Vision Therapy the right treatment for yourself or a family member? Most patients don’t understand the benefits of vision therapy without talking to an eye doctor who offers these services. As you learn more about these eye treatments, it is easy to see that Vision Therapy can be helpful for a variety of concerns.

Scheduling a Consultation to See if You are a Good Candidate

Vision Therapy isn’t the right solution for every patient. The best thing that you can do is schedule an evaluation to learn about the therapy and see if it is a good fit for your needs.

During the consultation, the eye doctor will see how the eyes track together and move when you are processing visual information. The screening isn’t designed to identify a diagnosis; often other visual tests need to be done for a full diagnosis. We can complete a full functional vision exam to determine the right course of action to optimize your vision.

Do You Need a Vision Therapy Evaluation?

Here are a few things that might indicate that you can benefit from a vision therapy appointment:

  • Weak Eye Teaming: Both eyes should work together as a pair to optimize vision. If your eyes aren’t working together as a team, then it might impact depth perception. These treatments can be helpful to improve performance for school, reading, and sports.
  • Learning Problems: Learning issues are often misdiagnosed as a disability. But, sometimes the learning problems might be closely connected with a visual component. Vision Therapy can’t be used for all learning issues. But, the treatments can be beneficial to improve eye-brain communication, as well as supporting memory and information processing.
  • Eye Strain from Computers: If you spend a lot of time in front of a screen, then vision therapy might be a beneficial treatment. Use these exercises to reduce stress on the eyes and decrease the long-term strain that occurs from screen time.

We always perform a comprehensive exam to determine if vision therapy is the right treatment option. If we find that you can benefit from vision therapy, then you can go through a series of treatments to help with eye movement and brain connection.
